Bruce Trail Inspired 3

I am happy to introduce you to Bruce Trail Inspired 3 , a third fundraiser art show.

The Bruce trail has been a part of my life since my childhood. Memories of hiking Spencer creek in the 60”s and seeing young boys cooking hotdogs from natural gas right in the creek never leave you.

These are the experiences I think every family should experience. I led my Brownie packs and many friends and family over those trails and now have made them a focus of many of my paintings.

I paint what I love and hope those images will encourage others to explore the 940 kms of trails and realize what a treasure they are and the need to protect them.

As part of my artistic journey I am collaborating with other artists for our now 3rd show. It started in 2020 during COVID with three artists, expanded to four in 2023 and now five in 2026. Those artists include Janet Jardine, Anne More, Cathy Lorraway and now Robert Peachey. We made a trip to the Bruce Peninsula this past June and were blown away with its unusual beauty. So much inspiration!

The Bruce Trail Conservancy is currently focused on fundraising to reclaim and revitalize the old Talisman resort property in Beaver Valley. We will visit as part of our effort to support their ongoing work.

The show opens November 17 with a reception Saturday Nov 21 and runs until Dec 5 2026 at the Holcim Gallery, First Ontario Place, Milton, Ontario.

I Will Follow You, Iroquoia Section acrylic 30” x 60” $3900.

Much of what I love about the Bruce Trail is the exposed bones of the land. The escarpment in its 940 km offers many examples of exposed Dolostone with its massive blocks shaping the landscape. This lovely section of the Hamilton section offers a glimpse into that geology. A giant staircase into the forest.

Dancing the Daily To and Fro , Websters Falls Gorge, 36 × 36 acrylic $2800

Hiking down into a frozen valley is a true delight. It is a study in contrast between blindingly bright snow faces and cool shadowed purple hued opposite slopes. This painting was inspired by the mounds of snow and ice just around the corner from Websters Falls late in the day. Belive me. it was followed by a quick retreat up the trail before sunset.

Let The Light Shine Thru 30” x 15” acrylic $950‍ ‍

Hiking thru a sunlit forest is the ultimate experience. Dark shadows play off brightly lit tree trunks and dappled leaves. This spot on Mount Nemo invites a sit down to take it all in. The elevation of the escarpment allows the light to enter the forest in a special way.
